Abidjan, Feb. 3, 2026 (AIP) – The president of the Ivorian Construction and Public Works Association (GIBTP), Lamine Koné, announced on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, during a press conference, that the 5th edition of the Abidjan Infrastructure Fair (SIA) will take place from September 17 to 19 at the Abidjan Exhibition Center.
Focusing on the theme “Digitalization, the circular economy, and sustainable resource management in the construction industry,” this edition highlights the urgency and necessity for the construction industry to transform itself in order to meet growing demands for performance, competitiveness, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility.
Mr. Koné emphasized the urgent need for companies in the sector to integrate digital tools into the design, execution, and management of projects, to adopt the principles of the circular economy, and to promote more sustainable and efficient management of natural and energy resources.
The chair of the scientific committee, Dr. Paulin Kouassi, explained that the four selected subthemes form a coherent and complementary framework for the conference.
Subtheme 1, titled “Digitalization and Digital Transformation of the Construction Industry in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities,” will lay the technological groundwork for the sector’s transformation.
Subtheme 2, “Circular Economy and the Recovery of Waste and Materials in the Construction Industry,” will introduce new economic and industrial models based on the circular economy.
Subtheme 3, “Sustainable Resource Management and Energy Efficiency in the Construction Industry,” will address issues related to sustainability, energy efficiency, and infrastructure resilience.
Finally, Sub-theme 4, “Public Policies, Standards, and Financing for a Sustainable and Digitalized Construction Sector in Africa,” will address the institutional, regulatory, and financial conditions necessary for the success of these transitions.
The General Commissioner of the SIA, Ismaël Boga-N’Guessan, stated that the exhibition will take place over a total area of approximately 19,000 m², divided into three distinct areas: a 5,000 m² Corporate Premium exhibition, a 10,000 m² outdoor exhibition dedicated to machinery, and a 4,000 m² machinery demonstration area. The goal is to host approximately 100 exhibitors (including 75 in Hall 1 and 14 outdoors), with an expected 5,000 qualified visitors.
